Francois Ozon + Charlotte Rampling + Marc Jacobs

I watched Sous le Sable (Under the Sand) a long time ago, liked the movie inexplainably, but never knew the name of the eerily inaccessible actress, with her drooping eyes that always hid something, her thin lower lip that kept everything in, and her gaze that knew all.

Then came these ads for Marc Jacobs taken by Juergen Teller.

You can find the more "irreverent" ones online. Honestly, I found Charlotte Rampling's presence in Sous le Sable more unsettling than the nude photos.

An editorial by Vogue UK last December, 2005:

More photos of Charlotte Rampling from her film and modelling career, candid shots, early images, a magazine spread which called her "the most beautiful in the world" and other shoots, and finally, images of her (with her family) as the mistress of ceremonies at the Cannes Film Festival and at other events.

Photos found on The Fashion Spot, credits from Corbis, charlotterampling.net, and various sources

She says her favorite label is Yohji Yamamoto. Can you spot which dresses? She was on style.com in 2004 as a beauty icon. I think she is much more than that.
