It's hard for me to frame subjects in a vertical format. It doesn't seem natural. The eye sees horizontally. (Annie Leibovitz, Annie Leibovitz at Work)
While streetstyle veterans Scott Schuman and Garance Doré shoot their subjects vertically, Tommy Ton of Jak and Jil has made his images distinct by using the horizontal format. This makes sense since the first two bloggers usually take portraits, while the latter takes street scenes — which are less choreographed than portraits.

With the Fall 2010 menswears shows coming in a few days, let us look back at 2009 — as well as some months from 2008 — to see how fashion editors, designers, models, tastemakers, and stylish pedestrians have exerted influence beyond glossy pages and entrenched the power of the blogosphere.

And don't forget the hypnotizing mystique of shoe porn.
