Monday mule

El-Bosquejo_Cameo_030415_01

I love Mondays. Workaholic that I am, the beginning of the work week arrives like the sun to my indolent shade.

Don’t get me wrong, I love leisure. But even during “work breaks” I find myself constantly working.

But by “work”, I don’t mean the drudgery of 9-to-5 employees.

I find myself constantly planning, referencing, re-assessing things past and still to come. Not very different from doing the numbers on abacus beads.

Yes, I notice the gap in the bracelet, which I have already fixed.

It’s not that I have a constant fear of not having enough time (even if we really don’t).

It’s more like I want to make the most out of everything.

You may hear me whine once in a while, but believe me even my words of sarcasm and passive-aggressive pronouncements have been calculated in advance.

If I had my way, doing the things I want to do at my own set pace, I wouldn’t make a sound.

But we must learn to adjust.

Move on, each time at a swift pace.

I know the title of this post sounds ironic, since mules are supposed to be slow. But they are dependable and sure.

Blame my natural temperament for my occasional outbursts.

El-Bosquejo_Cameo_030415_13

I apologize in advance for my impatience.

El-Bosquejo_Cameo_030415_14

Believe me, it is only because I try to be conscientious.

Things don’t always go my way – the heavens will attest. But I would rather be proactive than fatalistic.
