So hello, it’s been a while. Don’t know if you’ve missed me, but I’ve been perfectly fine. This is my best interpretation of Pantone’s colors of the year for 2016 (rose quartz and serenity), though I’ve designed a pink bracelet that comes closer (made of actual rose and cherry quartz, named Aphrodonis).
From Pantone: “As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that pyschologically fulfil our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”
Though I’m all for being mindful and promoting a sense of balance, for me the pastel combination can get a bit cloying. While equanimity is necessary for decision-making, I prefer the cold edge of logic. The flame of passion that burns sure and consistent.
Of course, always being angry can be a bit tiring, but I’d rather see it as compromise never allowing the lowering of standards. Funny, after celebrating my birthday yesterday, I’m already ready to plan for the next year, as if the remaining days no longer matter (as much, at least).
Cool, soothing waters. Even these next two weeks, while I am on leave from my day job, I’ll be very busy with my accessories business. But I appreciate having a bit more time at the gym, one or two extra hours of sleep, extra time to write and read.
The past month has been hectic cramming all of the things I want to accomplish before 2015 ends: from financial investments and obsessive-compulsive book purchases (both cutting down my online wishlists from online bookstores to shopping for used titles from local indie websites) to expanding the networks for my business.
Saying the year was hard is an understatement, harder still because I’ve read less than I’ve wanted to. I haven’t even really scratched the surface when it comes to revising and writing new poetry. If there is one thing though that the calm Pantone colors of 2016 convince me of is the value of being grateful – that given all that has happened, I have still exceeded my own expectations. Now it’s time to move on: recalibrate plans and update calculations. Of course taking into account the havoc that variables can introduce.
